According to a source involved in the meeting, the PPP and PML-N leaders held talks for the first time on Sunday as part of efforts to form a coalition government at the Center and the provinces after the February 8 elections. It was during this time that the idea of ​​appointing a Prime Minister for half a term was discussed for the first time.

Earlier, in 2013, the PML-N and the National Party (NP) formed the government in Balochistan for the first time through a power-sharing formula. Two Chief Ministers of the two parties then served alternately for half of the five-year term.

In a meeting held at Bilawal House in Lahore on Sunday, both sides agreed in principle to cooperate for political stability in the country after the general elections. Former President of PPP Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman of PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on behalf of PML-N were present in the meeting.
