April 1974 was one of the harshest months of the colonels’ dictatorship. The regime threw its weight into the preparation of the coup against Makarios in Cyprus and turned internally to the most brutal repression, still frightened by the uprising of the Polytechnic. Security and ESA were furious. Since February, a wave of arrests had begun, which extended from Athens to Thessaloniki, Patras and reached Ioannina with manifestations of violent repression throughout Greece.
