The cinematic tape, “Al -Bouz”, which was directed by Damna Bounailat and starring the artist Donia Batma, left the national halls after four months of the show, to end its early course, despite his affiliation with the commercial films field that used to stand for longer periods of box office, by virtue of the mass nature that distinguishes it and makes it close to the tastes of the Moroccan spectator.
The attendance of the film gradually declined in the cinema halls in various cities, before it was permanently withdrawn, after he was unable to compete with other productions that succeeded in attracting the audience thanks to the strength of its subjects and the effectiveness of its promotional strategies.
Weak marketing has clearly reduced the film’s chances, as it was not accompanied by a strong propaganda campaign, similar to what other works are doing. Also, his heroes were not involved in adequately promoting it through social platforms or media meetings; What made the work be absent from the technical and mass discussions, and loses the betting bet to the halls.
In his story, the film relied on a social approach mixed with comedy, highlighting the topic of “banality” and the obsession of digital fame, through a poor and ambitious young character with a distinctive voice, she finds herself a victim influencing the “social media” that exploits her talent for money, before the truth is exposed and the heroine succeeds in achieving her dream of real fame after a path full of challenges.
Director Dama Bounailat was keen to present the film in a form that combines visual pleasure with the educational message; In a previous dialogue with Hespress, she confirmed that “the boulex” came to encourage young people to diligence and work hard to the arrival to the delusions of digital stardom, and to reveal the falsehood of some artificial models promoted by electronic platforms.
A number of prominent Moroccan artistic names participated in the film; Among them are Abdullah Farkous, Fadila Benmoussa, and the late Naima Bouhamala, Bushra Aharish, Murad Al -Ashabi, I, Jamali and Qamar Al -Saadawi, with the participation of both sisters, Donia and Ibtisam Batma, in their first acting experience, in addition to the presence of the hero of the Turkish series “Samehini”, in an attempt to give a public character that combines local and other foreign faces familiar to the Moroccan audience.
Despite this composition and the social and comic message that the film carried; It was not sufficient to extend the age of “al -Bouz” in the halls, similar to a group of works that were presented during the same period, as he left the competition in silence after he furnished the big screen within a few months.
