Police seize drugs hidden in banana boxes

Police personnel found drugs inside banana boxes during the operation carried out in the port of Guayaquil.

Agents of the Policía National seized 293 kilos of drughidden in cbanana leavesin one of the ports of Guayaquil.

The intervention took place on Monday, February 19, 2024, by the personnel of the National Ports and Airports Investigation Unit (UIPA) together with the National Canine Unit (CRACK).

The shipment was destined Rotterdam-Holland, and tried to leave the country in two containers with products from export in banana boxes.

The alert about drug contamination was given by the dogs ‘Chester y Bob‘. Then the containers were verified with the help of equipment technicians.

Inside they found 6.101 sachet-type cocaine wrappers that were hidden in the tapas in the base of each cardboard.

During the review, the legal representative of the company was present during the procedure.

At the end of the procedure, the Police detained citizen Rodolfo O. for investigations.

With what was seized, it was prevented from going out Europa nearly 3 million doses of drugs that would be valued, upon reaching their destination, at around 20.8 million dollars.

This year the Police seized 49 tons 536 kilos of drugsin 1,412 operations, in which they arrested 1,820 citizens of different nationalities. (YO)
