It is worth noting that the International Hospital of Colombia (HIC) confirmed that “despite all the efforts” of its team, Hernández “died today due to complications from his metastatic neoplastic pathology of the colon.”

“We deeply regret this sensitive event and, on behalf of all the HIC staff, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, loved ones and supporters,” the medical center added in a statement.

Rodolfo Hernández’s health has been a matter of great concern in recent weeks, especially after the International Hospital of Colombia (HIC) issued an official statement on August 4 indicating a favorable evolution.

The medical report, signed by medical director Johnatan Cáceres Prada, stated that Hernández was in “acceptable general condition” and undergoing post-surgical hepatic compensation, which had provided a ray of hope to his followers.

However, this apparent improvement was quickly called into question. Family members and close associates of Hernández, including members of the Anti-Corruption League of Governors, revealed that the former mayor had been in an induced coma for the past two weeks and had required intubation, a situation that contradicted official versions and exacerbated public concern.
