In the Hanoi market, the price of peaches for rent during Tet this year has decreased by millions of dong compared to previous years, while the price of kumquats for rent is higher.
Mr. Vu Van Kha is someone who has been attached to Tet peach trees for decades. Every year when Tet comes, he transports hundreds of peach trees from his garden in Thuong Tin district to the center of Hanoi city to sell and rent.

He said that this year’s peach rental price has decreased significantly because peach blossoms bloom early before Tet. By the time Tet comes, the flowers are already in full bloom, and tenants don’t like it when they see that. “For example, an old peach tree, 2.5 meters high, last year’s rental price was 9 million VND, this year the rental price is only 6 million VND, down to 3 million VND/tree. If the tree is about 1.8-2 meters tall, if it is young, it can only be rented for about 2-2.5 million VND.”Mr. Kha said.
The price of peaches for rent at different garden houses is different, depending on the longevity, appearance, flowers and buds on the peach tree. However, peach rental prices generally decreased sharply compared to last year.
The owner of Thanh Xuan garden (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi), which specializes in renting peaches to corporate offices, said: “Peach trees with 5 arms (5 winding branches) cost about 9 million VND to rent. Last year, if you could rent this type, it would have been over 10 million VND. The type with less hands is cheaper.”.

Garden owner Van Sang (Nhat Tan, Hanoi) also said that up to now he has only sold and rented about 50% of the peaches in the garden. The reason is because last year’s leap year was on February 2, the peach blossoms bloomed early, making customers “criticize that the peach blossoms are full, so why bother playing anymore?”
The most popular type of peach in this garden has an average rental price of less than 10 million VND, while last year the average rental price of peach trees was over 11 million VND.
Meanwhile, ornamental kumquats for rent this Tet Giap Thin 2024 season are in high demand. Garden representative Anh Thu (Thanh Tri, Hanoi) said that for many years, office workers prefer peaches to kumquats. That’s why there aren’t many kumquats for rent on the market.
“The kumquats that are rented for display in the office are usually tower-shaped kumquat trees. Because in previous years, the demand for this plant was low, so this product is becoming scarce on the market. This year peaches bloomed early, businesses switched to buying kumquats a lot, that’s why the rental price of kumquats increased.”gardener Anh Thu said.

Accordingly, the lowest price to rent a kumquat tree for Tet this year is 6 million VND. These are still tower-shaped kumquat trees, but their height is modest, about 1.5 meters, their shape is not evenly round, and they may not have flowers or buds.
The most expensive rental price is up to 15 million VND/tree, usually tower-shaped kumquat trees over 2 meters high, with wide, even round canopy, full of green leaves, green fruit, ripe fruit, flowers and buds.
Depending on the location and rental period, the rental price will vary. However, this gardener said that this year’s kumquat rental price increased by 1-2 million VND compared to last year.
