“Television people know that whatever our feelings are, we wear our smiles, and I’m going to stick to that tactic because I don’t want to do those who let me down the favor of knowing that they’ve let me down too a lot of people” noted Dimitris Papanotas speaking about his expulsion from the SYRIZA European ballot.
Mr Papanotas thanked “for the messages of support from the thousands of SYRIZA voters”, claiming he had received over 3,000 messages of support and just three abusive messages.
“I came in alone”
Commenting on his involvement with politics and the statement that led to his exit from the European election ballot, he noted that the hype around his name was based on a statement he played edited.
“I entered this game alone as an idealist of the left, as a European leftist who sees a danger for Europe” underlined Dimitris Papanotas and added: “I entered alone, I did the fight I did alone, I saw the support of public, I did not receive congratulations from anyone for my performance in the internal party elections.”
He also stated that he had never met with the president of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance Stefanos Kasselakis, apart from their joint presence for a few minutes at the announcement of the candidates for the primary elections of the official opposition.
“Let him put those he wants”
“I will not talk about the essence of politics and if SYRIZA remains the party of the Left that I believed in, I wish them good success and I have no problem with Mr. Kasselakis either, let him put in those he wants and throw out those he wants” he added until yesterday candidate of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance.
Finally, he did not fail to point out the attitude of his co-candidates in SYRIZA, stressing that “those whom I defended publicly were digging the pit for me and in an unacceptable way”.
“I am not from yesterday, I have been exposed for 37 years every day, I have given my opinions, my history is there, nothing objectionable was found in the political speeches, they found a statement in the time locker to accuse me” added Dimitris Papanotas, emphasizing that he too had support the #MeToo movement with what he said on TV.
