A lot has changed in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) since Mohsin Naqvi came in as the new chairman. PCB has taken an exceptional initiative this time. The board has decided to send the country’s cricketers to army training to increase their strength.

As per the board’s decision, the cricketers will be sent for army training after the ongoing season of Pakistan’s domestic franchise PSL. This training session will continue from March 25 to April 8.

PCB Chairman Naqvi made this announcement to some players in a hotel in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Naqvi said, ‘When I was watching the matches in Lahore, I didn’t think anyone hit a six that hit the gallery. Whenever I saw such a six (hit the gallery), I thought it was hit by a foreign cricketer. Later I asked the board to come up with a plan to speed up the fitness of every player. You have to make due efforts for this.’

He also said, ‘New Zealand is coming to our country. Then Ireland, England and T20 World Cup. I was thinking, “When will we train?” But there was no time. However, we got an opportunity, where we organized a camp at Kakule (Military Academy) from March 25 to April 8. Pakistan Army will be involved in your training. Hope. Kari, they will help you.’

Even before this, there is a record of army training in Pakistan cricket. Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq organized training at the Kakul Academy. After training, Pakistan started to play Test series against England. After scoring a century in the first Test, Misbah did 10 push-ups, accompanied by an army salute.
