JAKARTA – General Chair of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, responded to the news that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Elect 2024-2029 Gibran Rakabuming Raka are no longer cadres of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP). Airlangga said that Jokowi and Gibran had joined the big Golkar family.
Airlangga actually responded that Jokowi and Gibran were close to the party he leads. Moreover, Gibran has received an official mandate from the National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) of the Golkar Party.
“That Mr. Jokowi is close to the Golkar Party. And secondly, Mr. Gibran received a mandate from the Golkar Party through the official National Rapimation mechanism,” Airlangga told reporters at the KPU Office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (24/4/2024).
“So, for us, Pak Jokowi and Mas Gibran have already entered the big Golkar family. Of course, it’s just a formality,” he continued.
Airlangga added that Golkar is always open to the best cadres such as Jokowi and Gibran. “Of course the Golkar Party is always open to the best cadres of this nation. And clearly Mr President, Pak Jokowi is the best cadre of the nation who has been with the Golkar Party during his two terms,” he concluded.
