A new year of work began at Aviced FC, which wants a rematch in 2024 in the Second Category Provincial Tournament. To do this, they have relied on the profile of Cuenca professional Pablo Arévalo, who has been confirmed as strategist of this club.
Practice with the group of players officially began on the afternoon of Monday, March 4, in Baguanchi.
Arévalo, in previous seasons, worked on the same team, but as a technical assistant, along with his countryman José Granda. For this new season the roles are reversed.
‘Profe Pablito’, as his friends call him, takes on this challenge as one of the most important in his career as a strategist. According to the Azuayo, this is thanks to the efforts of recent years.
The former soccer player was one of the local elements that celebrated Deportivo Cuenca’s only title in Ecuadorian soccer, in 2024. He comments that changing his role as a soccer player and being on the other side of the field is difficult; However, he has gotten used to it.
Arévalo was also part of the coaching staff that won the Ascenso Azuayo championship in 2022. At that time he worked as a technical assistant. “The challenge is strong and he took it bravely. Start of training
The training sessions began on Monday, March 4, and were carried out with a squad of 25 members, of which only 18 have a confirmed employment relationship. The basis of this cast focuses on its players who compete in the U-18 Provincial Championship, organized by the Azuay Football Association (AFA).
Among the players who will continue in the Cuenca team are: Mateo Mogrovejo, Erick Ayoví Isaac Cabrera, Juan Guillén, Xavier Armijos, Ricardo Montalván, Diego Villamizar, José Caicedo.
“My hallmark of the game is to have the ball and propose on any court. That has been the style of Aviced in recent years. The initiative will have to be from the starting staff. I have spoken with the reinforcements and there is confidence to be among the best,” said Arévalo.
José Granda will work alongside the local coach as technical assistant. The physical trainer will be Diego Zhañay and the goalkeeper trainer will be Israel Álvarez.
