What was the main reason you went to this reality show?
I spent two months deciding whether to accept the offer or not. But in the end, the fact that I had Quentin very early, I graduated pregnant and jumped straight into family life, I completely missed out on those twenties, when you travel, get to know each other, go to festivals and the like. For me, this offer meant an opportunity to try something new, experience an adventure, meet new people. Not having to look after someone if his noodles are running, if he’s thirsty, send him to wash his hands or figure out if I’m going to get killed somewhere, cook and so on. (laughs) I knew I would only be able to be myself. The last time I was nineteen.
You said a big reason was the desire for adventure. So you don’t make some escapes from reality with your husband or alone with a friend? Why don’t you go on a wellness weekend?
My mother and I haven’t been in touch for years, and my dad only marries Quentin. Sven and Lili are still small for him, I couldn’t do that to him. (laughs) But last year we were lucky when a friend looked after our children and we went to a film festival in Karlovy Vary for a few days, it was amazing.
You could almost say that it was a return to the scene of the crime. It was precisely in Vary that almost twelve years ago it was revealed that you and Pepa, then still married to presenter Gabriela Partyšová, were seeing each other, and your pregnancy soon came to light. At that time, did you also think about not keeping the child?
It wasn’t like we had been together for a month and I got pregnant, we had already been seeing each other for about a year and a half and I was terribly in love, I loved Pepa to death. I couldn’t imagine killing our love child in any way. That’s when I said to myself that even if it didn’t work out with Pepa, I definitely wouldn’t be stuck with vinegar. Even though I had no idea where and how we would live. Pepa brought literally two plastic bags from Gábina, he left her everything he had. We then built everything together from scratch. But I believed that it would turn out well, which it did.
Josef is thirty-six years older than you. Yet after seven years he agreed to another offspring?
When I started to feel like having a second child in my mid-twenties, we sat down and talked about it up front.
