The editorial board of the world famous American newspaper New York Times has called on Joe Biden to withdraw from the upcoming presidential election. The call was made citing Biden’s health concerns after a debate with former President Donald Trump on Thursday (June 27).
The editorial emphasized the need for a stronger alternative candidate to compete with Trump. At the same time, the editorial also urged President Biden to announce that he would not seek re-election.

In an editorial titled ‘President Biden Should Quit Race to Serve Country’, the New York Times editorial board argued that Biden had failed to reassure the American public about his ability to meet the demands of the upcoming term.
‘What is plainly seen in the debate, voters cannot be expected to ignore. Joe Biden is no longer the person he was four years ago.’
The editorial also pointed to Biden’s troubled state during the debate to reveal his plans for a second term and counter provocations by Republican opponent Donald Trump.
