Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued special traffic instructions on the occasion of Amar Ekushey Book Fair. This information was informed by the media and public relations department of DMP on Saturday (February 10).
According to DMP, the book fair has received a huge response from the public. A large number of visitors are coming to the fair, especially in the afternoons of holidays and evenings on other days. As a result of this, heavy traffic is observed in Shahbagh and Dhaka University area, citizens are specially requested by the police to avoid Shahbagh and Dhaka University area and follow the following traffic routes at that time—
1. Those vehicle users who want to go towards Motijheel, Gulistan or Puran Dhaka using VIP Road can use Shaheed Captain Mansoor Ali Sarani (Satrasta – Moghbazar – Kakrail Mosque) as an alternative road.
2. Those vehicle users who want to go towards Motijheel, Gulistan or Old Dhaka using Mirpur Road-Elephant Road can use Newmarket-Ajimpur-Palashi-Chankharpool area on Mirpur Road to reach their destination.
3. Those vehicle users who want to go via Old High Court Junction via Doel Chatwar towards Neelkhet-Newmarket, Azimpur or Elephant Road can go via Govt Employees Hospital-Nimtali-Shahidullah Hall Crossing-Shaheed Minar-Palashi.
Apart from this, parking of vehicles in Dhaka University and surrounding areas is discouraged except in designated parking areas.
