The reports in the press that the garden with the statue of Khurshidbanu Nateva will be canceled and the statue will be removed from there do not reflect the truth.

Publika.az reports that this was exclusively reported to Azertaj by the general department of the Evian-le-Bain city hall in France.

It was noted that an act of vandalism was committed against the statue of the prominent Azerbaijani poet Khurshidbanu Nateva in Evian-le-Ben, and the stone tablets were broken. “The City Hall is looking for specialists to repair and clean the statue, as well as to restore the stone plaques bearing the name of the garden. After the restoration, both the plaques and the statue will remain in their place,” the statement emphasized.

It was also reported from the mayor’s office that the mayor of Evian-le-Ben appealed to the police regarding the vandalism of the statue:

“We believe that this statue reflects the cultural unity between the two nations and is a cultural bridge between the nations. This is the garden of our city and it was given to us as a gift.”

In a statement issued by the Evian City Hall, it was emphasized that Ismayilli is a sister city and it was noted:

“Today, the situation sounds at the political level, but we are not politicians, and our city maintains and will maintain relations with its sister city. If a delegation from Ismayilli arrives tomorrow, we are ready to welcome them. Unfortunately, our relations with Ismailli remained at the level of exchanging greetings on holidays. We haven’t been in touch since the coronavirus pandemic.

The article, written in French, completely misrepresented what was said at the municipal council meeting. After that, such an issue was raised, but the mayor’s office rejected all these proposals and said that the garden, as well as the statue, will remain, and the friendship will continue. The press reports say that this garden will be canceled, but we did not say such words and this news does not reflect the truth.
