Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had 5 wickets for 57 runs. From there, Kolkata got capital of 169 runs based on the innings of Benktesh Iyer’s 70 and Monish Pandey’s 42 runs. Many may not have thought that Mumbai Indians could be stuck with this small run capital in the run-flooding IPL.

But Kolkata made it possible with the bowling ball of Mitchell Starc, the highest priced cricketer in the history of IPL. KKR bowled out Mumbai for 145 runs with his brilliant bowling. Kolkata won by 24 runs.

Kolkata’s last win was in 2012 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai’s home ground. After 12 years, Shahrukh Khan’s team saw that victory that was almost unrecognizable.

In this match Kolkata lost 5 wickets for 57 runs after losing the toss to bat. Phil Salt (5), Sunil Narine (8), Enkrish Raghuvanshi (13), Shreyas Iyer (6) and Rinku Singh (9) could not do anything for the team.

Kolkata quickly lost 5 batters and came under pressure. Then Venkatish Iyer and Manish Pandey made a partnership of 83 runs for the sixth wicket. He was caught by substitute De Brevis off Hardik Pandya after scoring 42 off 31 balls.

Pandey is out but Vankatish hanks a great fifty. He scored 70 off 52 balls before being bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. Based on these two innings, Kolkata were all out for 169 runs with 1 ball remaining.

In response, Mumbai started losing wickets at regular intervals. The hosts lost 6 wickets for 71 runs. Suryakumar Yadav and Tim David put on 49 runs for the seventh wicket. After making his fifty (56 off 35 balls), Surya was caught by Salt off Andre Russell. And Tim David was stopped by Starc for 24 runs. Mumbai were all out for 145 runs before 7 balls.

Mitchell Starc took 4 wickets for 33 runs for Kolkata. And Nuwan Thusara and Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets each for Mumbai.
