More wells will be integrated into the northern sector network

In the next two weeks, another two or three water wells will be integrated into the network to meet the needs of neighborhoods, companies and industries in the northern sector of the city, based on the current administration’s program that will close with 32 new ones. supply sources.

The wells that will be connected will be located in the sectors of Azulejos, Senderos, as well as in El Tajito, which will increase the amount of water allocated to the northern area, which has the greatest growth in the city.

The mayor, Román Alberto Cepeda González, reported the above to businessmen from the Ciudad Industrial de Torreón (CIT) organization, with whom he held a meeting prior to the flagging of the remodeling of the facilities.

During the two years and four months of the current administration, 22 wells have been incorporated into the network, and the remaining 10 will be created in the coming months.

Anticipating the increase in needs in the current season, the wells of the Municipal Water and Sanitation System (Simas) Torreón received preventive maintenance for a few months, which is done every year so that the equipment is in the best conditions for its operation. .

The next step will be to work on improving the water conduction lines, which is already being done in some sectors of the city such as the west.

In that sense, the municipal authority highlighted that currently, the city no longer faces water disposal problems, but rather they are reduced to conduction.

In this regard, it was reported that Torreón has 2,500 kilometers of buried pipeline, due to the age of which almost half of the water extracted from the wells run by the operating agency is wasted.

“The provision of water is no longer a problem, but rather the problem of conduction; each kilometer of pipe costs 1.2 million pesos,” in response to which an effort will be made to address this important need during the remainder of the administration.
