A horse fair is held at Phulbari in Dinajpur. The fair started on Friday (April 26) at 10:30 am in Aladipur Union of Phulbari Upazila. More than three hundred horses from different parts of the country came to the fair for sale.

According to local and fair organizer sources, the horse fair is held from the 9th or 10th of the month of Baisakh. 13 Baisakh Fair print (receipt) is issued for sale of cattle including horses. The fair lasts for 15 days. However, although cows, buffaloes and goats are not sold like before, horses are mainly sold in this fair. For this reason it is known nationwide as Bura Chintaman Horse Fair.

Senior teacher Dashim Uddin Mondal said, the horse fair is widely known throughout the country. Everyone associated with horses knows the start and end date of this fair. Because of this, every year before the start of the fair, the concerned people come to sell horses. Around the fair, various shops sit in the fair. For entertainment, circus, swings and city fairs come to the fair.

Bura Chintaman with 13 horses came to the fair from Sapahar area of ​​Naogaon. Horse traders Moklechur Rahman, Mostakim, Abul Kalam, Nur Hossain, Nurul Islam came to the fair with horses. They buy and sell horses at horse fairs held in different parts of the country throughout the year. They earn their living by selling horses and horse racing.

Sonamia, a horse trader from Bhagwatipur in Birampur upazila, said that she has been selling horses at this horse fair for 20 years. This time I came to the fair to sell tea horses. One of the horses is white. It is named Bijli. The price of this electricity has been increased to 60 thousand taka. But buyers are bargaining 40-45 thousand taka. He said that he will sell the horse if it is more than 50 rupees.

Local UP chairman and general secretary of the fair committee Nazmus Saqib Bablu said that along with the administration, the fair committee has also made overall security arrangements. Very ancient and traditional fair is nowhere in North Bengal.

Syed Abul Hasan Azad, president of the fair committee, said that even after independence, horses from the Middle East including Nepal, Bhutan, India and Pakistan have come to the fair. Now, although horses do not come from abroad, the owners bring horses from different parts of the country to the fair. This time too, more than three hundred horses appeared in the fair.

At 10:30 in the morning, the president of the fair committee, teacher Syed Abul Hasan Azad, presided over the ceremony, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League. Mushfiqur Rahman Babul, Vice President Principal Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Organizing Secretary Ashraful Alam Dablo and Principal Shyamal Chandra were present.
