Nguyen Thuy Linh announced the good news that she officially has a ticket to attend the 2024 Olympics in the women’s singles event in badminton.

“Hello everyone, for those who love, support and follow me throughout my past journey, especially the 1 year of accumulating points to get to the 2024 Olympics. Today I would like to officially announce I have qualified to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics.” Thuy Linh announced the good news to fans.

This is the second time in a row that Thuy Linh has attended the Olympic playground. To get a ticket to Paris, the player from Phu Tho accumulated points by competing in dozens of international tournaments over the past year.

It’s quite unfortunate for Thuy Linh that in recent tournaments she has not performed well, so she dropped to 24th in the world and is unlikely to be in the seeding group for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Previously, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Thuy Linh did not make it to the 1/8 round but became the first Vietnamese female athlete to have 2 wins at the Olympics in the women’s singles event in badminton.

Thuy Linh is currently in Hue, attending the national badminton team championship in the Dong Nai shirt. After this tournament, athletes born in 1997 will focus on training to prepare for the 2024 Olympics.

Up to this point, Vietnamese sports have 7 places to participate in the Paris Olympics: Nguyen Thi That (bicycle), Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting) and Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton). The goal of Vietnamese sports is to win 12-15 spots at the Olympics.
