Minister of the Interior highlights installation of FBI offices in the country

ASSUMPTION. The Minister of the Interior, Enrique Riera, highlighted the great international collaboration that Paraguay is receiving in terms of security, while announcing that the Federal Investigation Office or Federal Bureau of Investigation, better known by its acronym FBI, will soon be installed to the training of staff and installation of offices.

He valued the extraordinary response of international cooperation that the Paraguayan State is receiving regarding the security aspect. He pointed out that on behalf of the United States, they are receiving visits from high authorities of this country in security areas on a practically weekly basis.

“The deputy minister and chief of police were sent to Washington, a memorandum was signed. The FBI is going to settle in Paraguay with a first initiative to train personnel and set up offices. While with Interpol, we have Paraguayan police officers candidates to go to Lion, France, to work there and the profile is very good, it has been approved; I could say that he is almost an ambassador there, with three years of training, plus another few months of work,” he explained.

He pointed out that with Brazil, the various operations that have been carried out, such as operation Basalto, Ágata and the last one, Joapy, which were actions that would be impossible to carry out if there was no support from Brazil on the other side.
