Minibus drivers protested in front of the municipality in Adana
ADANA – Minibuses affiliated with the Meydan Cooperative protested in front of the Adana Metropolitan Municipality due to the reduction of their lines.
The Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) affiliated with the Adana Metropolitan Municipality removed some stops from the route of the minibuses affiliated with the Meydan Cooperative. Thereupon, the minibus drivers protested in front of the Adana Metropolitan Municipality and voiced their grievances.
“We also want a route”
Meanwhile, Erhan Özhan, one of the drivers who spoke to reporters, said, “We are here as a Meydan minibus stop. Lines were given to all stops, but our Meydan minibuses were not given lines. Our existing routes were also removed. We are the victims. Lines were given to 16 stops, but our stop was not given a line. Our only request is that we want routes like the routes given to other minibuses.”
“Our daily income has decreased”
Stating that they have the shortest minibus stop distance in Adana, Attila Özhan said, “Our round trip distance was 14 kilometers, while the other stops were 25 kilometers, it was increased to 40 kilometers. We cannot even give our children pocket money, we are really disadvantaged. Our daily income has dropped to 700 TL.”
The protesting drivers then dispersed peacefully.
