The government has announced the deployment of military doctors to hospitals in South Korea that are closed due to the strike. This was announced by the country’s Health Minister Chon Kyo-hong in a meeting on Sunday (March 10). Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera reported this news.

The health minister said 20 military surgeons and 138 public health doctors would be assigned to 20 hospitals on strike for four weeks.

In a press conference, the Ministry of Defense said that out of about 2,400 military doctors, only a small number are being sent to the hospitals.

At least 12,000 apprentice doctors of one hundred hospitals in South Korea have been on strike since February 20. As a result, the hospitals are facing disaster. Patients have to be returned. Treatment is delayed. The patients suffered endlessly.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health said on Monday that as a preliminary step to suspend the licenses of doctors, a message has been sent to all. The message has been sent to 4,900 trainee doctors till March 8.

The government gave an ultimatum to cancel the licenses of those doctors if they did not return to work within three months. Before that procedure began, the message was sent again warning doctors.

There is a shortage of doctors in South Korea. As a result, the government recently decided to admit additional doctors. Then the trainee doctors went on strike.
