Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will not return to India to play IPL. He returned home on April 12 with a right hamstring injury. He will now continue his fight to recover under the advice of Cricket Australia’s medical staff in Perth.

Marsh’s IPL is over, Delhi head coach Ricky Ponting said in New Delhi on Monday.

The former Auji captain said, ‘I don’t think he is coming back. Cricket Australia wanted to start his recovery at home and we sent him back as soon as possible. Now his rehabilitation will continue for two weeks. I spoke to him a few days ago. It looks like the recovery will take longer than initially thought. I don’t think there will be any problem in T20 World Cup.’

Marsh is expected to lead Australia in the T20 World Cup starting from June 1.

Marsh played only four matches for Delhi in this IPL. Scored a total of 61 runs with a maximum of 23 runs in three innings. He bowled eight overs and took one wicket at an economy rate of 12.87.

With this, Delhi lost Marsh in the middle for the second season in a row. Last year, this all-rounder, worth 6.5 crore rupees, played only 9 matches.

Currently they are number eight with three wins. With six matches in hand, Delhi is still in the playoffs.
