A group of five Salvadoran gang members were deported in recent days from the United States, the Minister of Security, Gustavo Villatoro, reported this Thursday, who pointed out that although the North American country does not profile them as members of gangs, the Salvadoran system has a record , identifies them and proceeds to carry out the captures immediately, “as soon as they set foot on our territory.”

«We have police records prepared for 20 years with the data of these gang members archived in previous failed governments; However, our researchers never stopped associating and grouping them,” says the head of Security.

The gang members are José Miguel Ángel Ramírez Hernández, from the MS13; David Alfredo Trujillo Chacón, alias “El Serio”, of the MS13; Santos Saúl Moreno Barahona, alias “El Negro”, from 18R; Óscar Armando Huezo Mancia, alias “Cuto” from 18R and Jaquelin Yesenia Meléndez, alias “Colocha” from MS13.

The four men were captured for belonging to terrorist groups, while the gang member has a court arrest warrant.

Villatoro explained that “these terrorists are members of the MS13 and 18 Revolutionary structures, with ranks of: homeboy, collaborators and unemployed, one of them has a judicial arrest warrant and the others are captured for belonging to terrorist groups.” The four who will be prosecuted for terrorist organizations could face sentences of 20 years in prison, just for being gang members.
Officials have reiterated to the population that they will not rest until they put the last gang member in prison and will ensure that they do not leave prison or have benefits like in previous governments.

«Anyone who has outstanding accounts with justice must pay them. This war on gangs continues and we are committed to ensuring that these criminals who have caused fear for years never set foot on the streets again. We are not going to allow these terrorists to continue attacking the population and we are going to find them wherever they hide,” says Villatoro.

Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico and Colombia are some of the countries with which Salvadoran authorities have worked to locate and bring gang members who had hidden in those places.

The Transnational Anti-Gang Center plays a fundamental role in this type of operations that combine intelligence information exchange with police in the region to go after gang members.
