Mohamed Seddiqi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, released Morocco’s new vision for the fate of the marine fishing agreement with the European Union, as he believes that “renewing the protocol that was suspended last July 17 is in the hands of the Europeans.”

My friend stated, during the oral questions session in the House of Advisors, on Tuesday, April 16, that “the Kingdom is open to partnerships that respect the sovereignty of countries and achieve mutual understanding, and that respect the national maritime economy.”

This statement came in response to a question by the Chancellor, posed by Benmbarek, a member of the movement team in the Council of Councilors, who called for “a comprehensive evaluation of the agreement on marine fishing with the European Union, after the end of the marine fishing protocol with the European Union on July 17 of last year, with the aim of building a new partnership.” “Based on a win-win basis, taking into account the interests of Moroccan professionals and the implications of the agreement for the rehabilitation of the marine fishing sector in the Kingdom.”

Benmbarek called on the government to “think about building partnerships with new partners, not limited to the current traditional partners.”

Minister Siddiqi also spoke about “the Kingdom’s readiness to study all new proposals, and for any negotiation in this regard, based on the available qualifications.”

A member of the movement team in the second chamber stressed that “the file of the agreement on agriculture and fishing with the European Union has become an area for maneuvers by opponents of the territorial integrity in the wheels and structures of the European Union, as it has been transformed into a judicial battle in which rulings and positions conflict.” He called on “the government to redouble its efforts and invest in Morocco’s relations.” distinguished cooperation with the member states of the European Union to preserve the strategic partnership with Morocco and protect it from political provocations and maneuvers.”

Al-Sharqawi Al-Roudani, a university professor and strategic and security expert, said, “Joseph Borrell himself recently stated that the Kingdom is a strategic partner in a complex world. This pushes European countries to see Rabat as a strategic actor.”

Al-Roudani explained to Hespress that European countries see Morocco from this angle, and through international ramifications they want to maintain good relations with the countries of the southern Mediterranean.

The spokesman stated, “What Minister Siddiqi said applies to the Kingdom’s trends in searching for new partnerships, not only in this field, but in various other fields.”

For his part, Abdel Nabi Sabri, an expert in international relations, said, “The Kingdom has charted a clear path since the speech of the Moroccan king, who stressed that agreements with other countries are to respect the sovereignty of countries.”

Sabri stated, in a statement to Hespress, that “the marine fishing agreement has passed important stages; But it is based on clear, strong and legal foundations that enable it to adapt to changes, while respecting international law.”

The expert in international relations continued: “The Polisario does not have any legal standing to litigate this case, and the European Court of Justice is obligated to take these matters seriously.”
