Maria Niangi wins gold and qualifies for the Paris 2024 Olympics

News from Angola – Athlete Maria Niangi (-70kg), won today, in Cairo (Egypt), the gold medal at the African Judo Championship and qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to be held on 26 from July to August 11, in France.

In addition to Niangi, Santos Sebastião finished in 2nd place, winning the silver medal in the -81 kilogram category, while Rodrigo Lucas (-73kg), closed the podium in 3rd place, winning the bronze medal.

With this triumph, Angola added a total of 6 medals, after achieving a triple bronze medal on the first day, through Leonardo Barros (-60kg), Edmilson Pedro (-66kg) and Andreza António (-57kg).

For the third day, Saturday, the heaviest categories come into action, with
Adriano Tchissende (-90kg), Martinho dos Santos (+100kg), Piter Silva (-78kg), Aicha Rebeca (+78kg), Crislayn Rodrigo and Joaquina Carlos, both -78kg.

On Sunday, the last day of the continental event, Angola will compete in the team category.
