O National coordinator of the Fight Against Malaria Program, José Franco Martinsreported last week, in Luandawhich according to comparative data from the first quarter of 2017, in relation to the current year (2018), a malaria in the country records an ascending graph, that is, there is a tendency to increasethe same.
The coordinator spoke this Friday to the press, at the end of the dissertation on malaria in Angola, at the Training of Trainers on Communication for Behavior Change, for public health agents, at country level, promoted by the Global Fund, which takes place from the 29th to the 30th of this month.
He maintained that the increase in cases was registered in almost all provinces of the country, and in some in a greater proportion than others, especially the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Uíge, Bié and Cuanza Norte.
He highlighted that the numbers tend to rise, given that malaria increases during the rainy season, the deterioration of environmental sanitation, some limitations in control interventions, some ruptures of products to combat vectors.
He emphasized the need to extend the anti-vector fight to another 10 provinces, since a strategic plan for this extension has already been drawn up, especially to the provinces that were not included, namely Luanda and Huambo.
As for treatment, he said that work is being done, especially during this period when cases are decreasing.
Malaria contributes as a major burden to the high rate of infant and young child mortality that occurs in the country and has directly attacked women and especially pregnant women.
The training of trainers has the specific objective of training participants, disseminating the strategic plan and strengthening communication to change behavior regarding malaria in the country.
