The day after arriving in Montreal, the two Belgian figure skaters trained at the Bell Centre, where the world title battle starts on Wednesday. Because the slopes in Canada are narrower and longer, the choreography has to be adjusted.

Bell Center is the home base of the Montreal Canadiens ice hockey club and the playing field of the clubs in the National Hockey League (NHL) is different from what drivers in Europe are used to. The track in the Canadian metropolis is four meters narrower and one meter longer (61×26 meters) and therefore the choreography must be adjusted. “That certainly applies to Loena,” says her choreographer Adam Solya. “She needs a lot of space.”

However, coaches Jorik Hendrickx (of Loena Hendrickx) and Ans Bocklandt (of Nina Pinzarrone) have not decided to travel to Canada earlier. On Monday and Tuesday, the organizers offer the opportunity to train twice a day on the Canadiens’ ice. The first training started before 8 am on Monday.

The women’s short program is Wednesday afternoon (local time). The decisive freestyle of the best 24 riders is Friday.
