Lehner: SVS is investing in a future-oriented general medical contract and in prevention – 2024-02-17 01:13:18

Vienna (OTS) “The SVS is strong and stable. This enables sustainable investments in prevention transformation and a forward-looking overall contract with doctors. We are setting the course for the future, actively directing patient flows, strengthening the private practice sector and making the shortage subjects more attractive,” explains Peter Lehner, chairman of the social insurance for the self-employed, on the occasion of the SVS’s current management forecast for the health insurance division. “With the new doctor contract, we are investing an additional 30 million annually in services for our insured people,” explains Lehner. For 2024, the SVS predicts a loss of 70 million euros for the health insurance division. The largest cost factors are the payments to the states for the hospital fund amounting to 684 million euros and 692 million euros for the “medical aid” area. 492 million euros are spent on medicines.

“The SVS is not only actively driving forward the prevention transformation with the overall contract, but is also focusing on preventive dental health with this year’s ‘Smiling Together’ initiative,” emphasizes SVS General Director Hans Aubauer. “All of our insured people who go to the dentist this year and actively register for the bonus on svsGO will receive a 100 euro bonus,” explains Aubauer. In the past two years, the SVS has carried out two successful prevention programs with “Vaccinated Healthier” in 2022 and “Prevent Together” in 2023. “The 100 euro bonus is an incentive for the insured person to actively deal with their own health, to exercise their own initiative and personal responsibility, and it is a valuable contribution to the transformation from repair to prevention,” continues Aubauer.
