In 2001, a site was allotted to Bafu at Motijheel. Later the building was built within a few years. At that time, allocation letter for 25 years was given from National Sports Council, but nothing related to land deed or lease was explained. Finally today Buffe has received the land deed documents in the form of lease on 100 taka stamp for 50 years. Until now, the work was going on only with the allotment letter.
After the compromise agreement between Bafuf and the sports council, the football organization is safe until 2074.
The previous office of Bangladesh Football Federation was on the second and third floor of Bangabandhu National Stadium. FIFA’s condition was that in order to receive the cost of construction of the building, there should be a written document confirming the ownership of the land. The National Sports Council gave 33 percent of the Motijheel Jhilpar area in favor of Bafuf for 25 years.
This 25-year contract is almost at the end. Today, the National Sports Council and Buff have signed a compromise agreement between the two parties. In the light of this agreement, Motijheel will be able to conduct activities in Arambagh’s Bafufe building for the next 50 years from today through certain conditions. As the land user only the taxes and other matters have to be borne by BAFUF.
In this regard, BAFUF general secretary Imran Hossain Tushar told Bangla Tribune, ‘After so long we have got the lease of the building land for 50 years. No deed or lease found earlier. Work was going on based on the letter. Now with the lease deed it will be easier for us to get many formalities and help from FIFA-AFC. Besides, the state approval will also be easily obtained in case of expansion of any establishment or new construction.
Aminul Islam, secretary of the National Sports Council, said, ‘The lease has been extended for the next 50 years after considering Bafuf’s application. So that the activities and development of football in the country will be easier.’
