Layla (3) has a condition that only affects 100 people in the world: “Friends call me Fluffy”

British Layla Davis (3) is more often addressed as Fluffy than by her own name. The reason? At birth she was diagnosed with Uncombable Hair Syndrome, which causes her hair to look very wild. Children who develop it usually have light-colored hair and there are only about 100 known cases of it in the world.

Mom Charlotte Davis is very proud of her daughter’s locks. “The only difficult thing is that her hair requires special care,” she said. “It often has to be combed because the lumps are very difficult to get out. Layla also likes braids, but we can’t do too many of them because it’s best to pull them as little as possible.”

Her striking head of hair has already earned Layla many nicknames. “She has already been called Albert Einstein, but we also often hear Boris Johnson,” Charlotte continues. “At school everyone always calls her Fluffy because there is another Layla in her class. That makes it easier. My daughter loves her locks and hasn’t had any bad reactions to them so far. On the contrary: we receive a lot of nice messages on social media.”
