Kyokushin: Unity around the MOKKO association

Kyokushin karate takes a new start with the unification of all clubs.

The unification structure of kyokushin karate in Madagascar is legally constituted.

The Madagascar Oyama Kyokushin Karate Organization (MOKKO) association obtained its certificate of conformity on January 21, 2024, making it the one and only association of this style recognized by the Malagasy Karate Federation (FMK). This initiative is essential to unify the practice of kyokushin in the country and end the discord between practitioners. The absence of a national unifying structure had led to the existence of illegal clubs. Thanks to the commitment of MOKKO and as part of the project of the supervisory Ministry and the FMK aimed at amending the legal status of the Federation to include other associated disciplines, kyokushin can now benefit from the same advantages as other styles karate. The MOKKO steering committee meeting, chaired by Narindra Rabemila, took place in Ankaditoha last Sunday. The objective was to inform those responsible for Kyokushin karate clubs and organizations of the existence of this unification structure carefully regulated by law. The president, however, stressed that all clubs can maintain their affiliation at international level. The presence of the president of the FMK, Emile Ratefinanahary, and Sensei Lala Jaona of the UKCM, during this meeting, testifies to the importance given to the promotion of kyokushin karate in Madagascar. It was a valuable opportunity to discuss the context, issues and solutions aimed at strengthening this discipline in the country.
