The chairman of the Freedom Farmers’ Union in Upper Austria was sharply criticized today, FROM Dr. Arthur Kroismayr from Regau and the FPÖ state agriculture spokesman, LAbg. Franz Graf on the recent Constitutional Court ruling regarding the transition period for fully slatted floors in pig farming. “While the red governor of Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil, who lodged the complaint with the court, spoke of a ‘success for animal protection and responsible agriculture’, this statement is sheer mockery for our farmers and shows the SP’s unworldliness -Husband Doskozil,” said Chairman Kroismayr.

The VfGH ruling is, in fact, another slap in the face for local pig farmers. The consequence of this ruling will be further deaths, especially of small and medium-sized family businesses. In return, cheap imports from countries with much lower standards in animal production will increase,” fears agricultural spokesman Graf.

Banning pig farming on fully slatted floors makes about as much sense as the destruction of the German automobile industry by black-red-green climate change activists. We will bitterly regret this type of irresponsible policy in the future and will have to pay higher prices for declining quality. Therefore, our colleagues from the agricultural sector should be told for the coming European and also the National Council elections: Election day is payday!”, conclude Kroismay and Graf
