At least five people have been killed in a knife attack at a shopping mall in Sydney, Australia. A few others were injured. The incident took place at Westfield Bondi Junction shopping center in New South Wales on Saturday (April 13).
Police said one man stabbed a total of nine people. They also have a nine-month-old baby. Some of the victims are in critical condition.
The attacker was shot dead by the police on the spot.
New South Wales Police Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cook said they believed the attacker acted alone and there was no further threat.
He said that the identity of the attacker has not yet been ascertained. It is also not clear what his intentions were.
Authorities said the man was at the mall around 3 p.m. local time. Later went out and returned 20 minutes later with a knife.
After stabbing some of the attackers, he was shot dead by a nearby police officer.
