During the election campaign, Filip Turek was criticized for some statements related to the promotion of Nazi symbols. In the past, he drove in his car wearing a helmet with the emblem of the ultra-right party Golden Dawn, he also admitted that he owns Nazi-themed collectibles, and at the same time, his comments promoting Nazi ideology, offensive comments against the LGBT community, or racist jokes were published on social networks.
“If I met my twenty-five-year-old self now, I’d probably slap myself,” Turk openly said in Epicenter on Blesk.cz.
“I am not racist in any way, nor am I homophobic, nor am I xenophobic, I have most of my friends absolute liberals, I have friends from Africa…” the Turk enumerated. “My grandfather was conscripted, that is, my father’s father, after whom I have the dagger, which of course he does not have by being in the SS, this is just ridiculous.” put the situation into perspective.
Condemnation of Nazism, “stupid black humor” and knocking over the Nobility
According to him, there is a pile of artefacts in every other household, and this does not mean that someone is promoting something. “Of course that I condemn Nazism, and I think I’ve said it several times already,” he emphasized.
“We then searched Facebook, examined it, found out that some things were modified, we will solve it, who prepared it like this,” he said, adding that the situation is being solved by lawyers and the police.
“By the way, Robert Schlachta he is a great expert on extremism and he knocked me over in a very brutal way and of course Robert Šlachta, who dissolved the Workers’ Party (“extremely right-wing, neo-Nazi and national socialist political party, editor’s note), knows very well that I am neither a xenophobe, nor a racist, nor a neo-Nazi, and I have never been inclined to do so in history. It’s just black, bad, stupid humor, if, if anyone doesn’t get it, I’m sorry.” he added, saying that this was the last time he was apologizing.
According to him, Turek has a good relationship with ex-president Václav Klaus, who congratulated him on the result of the European elections directly in the election staff. “Even my dad makes fun of me for being like Klaus’ kid,” stated
They are in regular contact with Václav Klaus, and the Turk also admitted what he advised him before the European elections:He certainly advised me that a contact campaign is very important, that it is impossible to neglect it, and I think I really did not neglect it. I really went around the country as much as I could and everywhere we had full halls and really great reactions from all the people. I didn’t notice practically any negatives, so it was amazing, and I think overall, that determination gave me strength and motivation.”
Filip Turek also attended the celebration of the former head of state’s 83rd birthday: “I mainly wished Mr. President good health, I thanked him very much for everything and I gave him a good cognac, last year I gave him a more interesting gift, I gave him a North Korean banknote.’

In the program, the Turk also spoke about his relationship with businessmen Richard Chlad (62) or even Ivan Jonák (†59). “Richard and I have almost a family relationship, we are really close friends, so he supported me as much as he could,” he said, adding that he received 100,000 crowns or the opportunity to use a billboard in the campaign from Chlad.
