Peru will participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with the hope of reaching the podium after 32 years, with Kimberly García leading the expectations in race walking.

Peru prepares for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with high hopes placed on Kimberly Garcia, one of the leading figures of the march athletic worldwide. The South American country dreams of reaching the Olympic podium, a feat it has not achieved for 32 years.

The Peruvian delegation will compete in nine disciplines, highlighting not only García, but also marathon runners Gladys Tejeda and Cristhian Pacheco, and surfers, who represent one of the most emblematic sports in the country. In total, 26 athletes will defend the colors of Peru in Paris, a number lower than the delegations from London 1948, Berlin 1936, and Los Angeles 1984.

Kimberly García arrives at these Olympic Games in top form and with vast experience accumulated after her participation in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. This year, she has achieved victories in the 20 kilometers in the Czech Republic, at the World Team Championships in Turkey, and at the 20 kilometer Grand Prix in Rio Maior, Portugal.

Along with García, marathon runners Thalia Valdivia and Luz Mery Rojas, and walkers Mary Luz Andía, Evelyn Inga, César Rodríguez and Luis Campos will also be looking to stand out in Paris. Other athletes include sailors Stefano Peschiera, Florencia Chiarella and María Belén Bazo, shooters Daniella Borda and Nicolás Pacheco, badminton player Inés Castillo, and surfers Lucca Mesinas, Sol Aguirre and Alonso Correa.
