He has no reason to doubt anymore! Norwegian alpine skier Aleksander Kilde, 31, has had a tough time in recent weeks after crashing on a downhill run. But the whole time, his partner and skiing champion Mikaela Shiffrinová (29), who lovingly took care of him in the hospital, was his faithful support. Quite possibly, even with this difficult test, Kilde was convinced that the beautiful American woman was the one with whom he wanted to spend the rest of his life. And so he knelt before her!
Not only the last weeks have shown that Mikaela Shiffrin and her partner Aleksander Kilde can stand by each other through thick and thin. Now, the ski couple boasted about their engagement on social media. He announced these with joint pictures in which the American woman poses with a beautiful ring. The post was wordless, with only emoticons of a couple, a ring and satisfaction.
The pair reportedly first met at a ski camp, but it probably wasn’t love at first sight. The skiing stars only started dating a few years later.
“We met about seven years ago, and I think he started the conversation with “Hi,”” Shiffrin told Reuters in 2022. “He also sent the first friend request. Technically, he asked me out that year, but I kind of turned him down. I thought I was cute, but he probably took it as a rejection,” described the American woman, whose negative answer did not deter Kilde.
Coming together after tragedy
“He never stopped being nice and friendly. But he’s also always been very considerate, especially because I’ve been in a relationship at some point and he’s had a few relationships over that time as well.” described Mikaela, who found her way to Aleksandar after losing her beloved father, who died after a head injury. Kilde showed himself to be a very sensitive person at that moment.
“He got back to me last year with a really nice and supportive message for my family once I started racing again after my dad’s accident. And this time we just didn’t stop talking” she described in the past a competitor who will soon be a married lady.
