Karol G and Feid sweep the ninth edition of the Latin American Music Awards

Karol G and Feid, the couple of the moment, swept the ninth edition of the Latin American Music Awards by becoming the two most awarded artists of the meeting, winning six awards each.

This is the second consecutive year in which Karol G stands out as the most decorated artist of this celebration of Latin music, which for the first time held a bilingual edition from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Colombian singer, who was not present, won in sections such as artist of the year, song of the year for ‘TQG’, her collaboration with Shakira, or album of the year for ‘Tomorrow will be nice’, while Feid triumphed in categories such as streaming artist of the year or global Latin song of the year for ‘Classy 101’, alongside Young Miko.

“I wouldn’t have won this if it weren’t for the people who listen to my music, I hope it multiplies to Colombia,” said the Colombian, also a Colombian, upon holding his first prize in his hands.

Peso Pluma, who along with Feid was the most nominated of the night with twelve mentions each, won in two categories: best regional Mexican album for ‘Génesis’, and best regional Mexican collaboration for their song ‘She dances alone’, along with Eslabón Armado.

“I just want to thank you for so much love that you have shown to the corridos of the Featherweight, especially to my fans because they have made this wave of corridos bigger,” said the singer from the stage.

Shakira, who was also conspicuous by her absence, showed that her legacy as a pop artist continues by having won the awards for song of the year, best pop artist and best pop song, while Kali Uchis won the award for best pop album for ‘Orquídeas’.

Young Miko won in the best new artist section, thus beating artists like Peso Pluma or Bad Gyal, and Carin León did the same in the same category dedicated to the regional Mexican genre.

Grupo Frontera won one of the eleven awards for which it was competing, and the Puerto Rican Bad Bunny did not win in any of the eleven categories in which he was nominated.

Marc Anthony, Thalía and Becky G set the stage on fire

The event, which is characterized by vibrant performances by renowned and new artists, featured live music from singers such as Peso Pluma, Arcangel, Gabito Ballesteros, Ryan Castro, Becky G and Óscar Maydon.

And some artists took the opportunity to present unreleased premieres of their music, such as Puerto Rican Marc Anthony, who launched his single from the stage. ‘Ale ale’, or Anitta who danced and gave a preview of his next album ‘Funk Generation’ by performing the song ‘Grip’.
