About 40 organizations from 17 countries are participating in the 17th Karachi International Book Fair organized by Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association.

The 17th edition of the annual fair began on December 8. In the five-day book fair, a large number of book lovers gathered. Whether Islamic books or colorful children’s books, everyone bought books according to their choice.

A large number of elders including students were present in this book fair.

According to media coordinator Muhammad Abid Zubair Khan, there are more than 330 stalls in the fair.

According to him: ‘There are more than 150 publishers including publishing houses from Malaysia, UK, UAE and other countries. There are all kinds of books here, including science fiction novels and textbooks.’

Kitab Mela brings together all the publishers, distributors, domestic and foreign publishers, libraries and consumers on one platform.

This annual fair has been the focus of attention of millions of students, literary and teaching personalities and people from different walks of life across Pakistan.

A large number of young people were also seen in the book fair, who said that the love of books leads to the development of goals, while some citizens also said that in this era of innovation, people’s relationship with books has weakened and inflation has increased. Because of this, people’s tendency towards books has decreased.

Charlie, the sales manager of Hodder Education, who arrived in Pakistan from UK, also participated in the book fair.

He said: ‘It’s good to see that people here are interested in books.’

He further said that he has come to Pakistan for the second time especially for this book fair.

The book fair is organized by Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association.

Organized continuously since 2005, the Karachi International Book Fair holds the distinction of being the largest trade fair in Pakistan.
