Justin Hubner and Nathan Tjoe-A-On are expected to join the Indonesian U-23 national team

DOHA – Coach of the Indonesian U-23 National Team (National Team), Shin Tae-yong spoke about several key players who have not yet joined the squad ahead of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. The South Korean tactician still hopes that Justin Hubner and Nathan Tjoe-A-On can join forces soon.

Shin really had to rack his brains about summoning players to U-23 Indonesian National Team projections for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. This is because there are several clubs that will not release their players because this event is not an official FIFA agenda.

Meanwhile, Shin has announced 23 names who will compete in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. Of these 23 names, Justin Hubner’s name is still being retained, although it is still unclear whether he can join or not. Meanwhile, Nathan, who was previously included, has been dropped along with five other players.

Even though there is no clarity yet, Shin still hopes that Justin Hubner and Nathan can join the U-23 Indonesian National Team to Qatar. Even though Nathan is not included in the list of 23 players, that is not a problem. Because if you look at the AFC regulations, each participant can still change their squad up to six hours before the kick off of the first match.

“Several key players have not yet joined the U-23 Asian Cup squad, such as Elkan Baggott, Nathan Tjoe-A-On and Justin Hubner,” said Shin in a press conference, Sunday (14/4/2024).

“There are still several players who might join the U-23 Indonesian National Team. “Even though it’s quite unfortunate they couldn’t join the team straight away,” he continued.

Shin didn’t hope like that without reason. Because according to him, the presence of Justin Hubner and Nathan will definitely make the U-23 Indonesian National Team even stronger.

“But if these players join, our team’s performance will definitely be better,” he explained.

Meanwhile, on the other hand, Shin confirmed that he would not call up Elkan Baggott, who was not called up from the start because he was injured. However, he has actually recovered and has just managed to score a goal when Bristol Rovers won 3-1 over Cheltenham.

“Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Elkan Baggott will not join and of course that is quite unfortunate,” said Shin.

The Indonesian U-23 national team is in Group A with hosts Qatar, Australia and Jordan in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup. The Garuda Muda squad will face Qatar in their first match which will take place at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, Monday (15/4/2024 ) at 22.30 WIB.
