Just Say the Name, Don’t Be a Gimmick

JAKARTA – Minister of Communication and Information ( Minister of Communication and Information ) Budi Arie Setiadi asked the Head of the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) Benny Rhamdani not to make the issue of online gambling a gimmick. This is by mentioning the initials T as the controller of online gambling in Indonesia.

Budi assessed that the initials only made many speculate. Benny should have immediately revealed T’s full name so that it became something concrete and just a gimmick.

“Just give the name, give the evidence like that. What I mean is don’t be a gimmick, eradicating online gambling shouldn’t be like this (a gimmick),” said Budi Arie, Friday (2/8/2024).

He claims to have seriously handled the problem of online gambling in Indonesia. So, do not ride on various gimmicks, which actually interfere with the handling of the case.

Then, when asked about the initials T having been discussed in a cabinet meeting, Budi denied it. He said that the initials T had never been included in cabinet discussions.

“Once again, I don’t know who (T) is, ask the person who gave me that term. I have never heard that discussion in the working cabinet,” he explained.

Budi explained that his party is also in the process of detecting online gambling dealers in Indonesia. However, he argued that arrests cannot be made without clear evidence.

“It’s not that we haven’t caught them yet, just wait because catching a drug lord requires evidence. I asked the police ‘why haven’t they caught them yet?’ Yes, there must be evidence,” he said.
