Wotschke: “The SPÖ is pursuing politics here at the expense of the young generation and is thus driving a wedge between young and old.”
Vienna (OTS) – The JUNOS reacted with surprise to today’s SPÖ press conference on the subject of pensions. “In Austria there is a group of climate deniers and also a group of pension hole deniers. Numbers, data and facts are powidl to the group,” says JUNOS chairwoman Wotschke angrily.
“It is not those who are calling for reforms who are scaremongering, but rather those who are delaying the problem, even though leading experts have been calling for generation-appropriate reforms for years. The SPÖ is pursuing politics here at the expense of the next generations,” said Wotschke in the direction of Babler and Muchitsch.
The Court of Auditors, the OECD, the Fiscal Council and many other experts are calling for far-reaching reforms in the Austrian pension system. “The billions that the state has to add to pensions every year are missing in important future areas such as education, research or the environment,” JUNOS federal chairwoman Sophie Wotschke once again reiterates the call for pension reform.
The Young Liberals NEOS (JUNOS) are once again calling for a sustainable pension reform that includes automatic pensions and the introduction of stock pensions. “For years, government after government has been delaying an urgently needed pension reform because they are afraid of losing their votes. If you want today’s young generation to have a secure and decent pension in the future, reforms must be initiated,” said JUNOS Federal Chairwoman Wotschke.
“What is needed now are steps that make the pension system fit for the future,” Wotschke appeals in conclusion.
