Judicial Agency destroys war toys to promote peace

Authorities of the Judicial system (OJ) will carry out this Tuesday, March 5, the destruction of war toys given in confiscation in his favor. The activity took place in the Financial Plaza of the Palace of Justice, in zone 1 of Guatemala City, with the presence of students from different establishments.

It was reported that it is important for boys and girls not to play with these types of items, as they set a bad example and teach them from a young age that it is okay to shoot and act aggressively, instead of promoting positive behaviors.

In that sense, the OJ expressed its commitment to the formation of Guatemalan citizenship, starting with minors, which is why this ceremony was held.

President of the OJ speaks out against this type of toys

The president of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) and the Judicial Branch, Oscar Cruz, explained that the toys were seized in raids and, through a judge’s order, the confiscation was declared. Once this phase has been indicated, as these are products that are not legally traded, they are destroyed.

The magistrate highlighted that the elimination of weapons of war allows children and adolescents to become aware of not resorting to their use.

“And, of course, it helps us enable a culture of peace, of non-violence at the level of minors, who are the present and future of our society,” he highlighted.

After giving his statement to the students, the destruction phase was carried out, in which machinery was used to remove the large amount of products that were placed in the plaza.
