JK Rowling says on According to the author, the two use their platform to applaud the transition of minors.
Since last week, it has become a criminal offense in Scotland to incite hatred on the basis of someone’s age, disability, religion, orientation or gender identity. A law that JK Rowling does not agree with, because, like some Scots, she sees it as an obstacle to the right of freedom of expression. In addition, it is also seen by some as an infringement of women’s rights. And so Rowling went to X to lash out at transgender people.
This week the author goes one step further after the publication of a study by Dr. Hilary Cass, which shows that the number of children referred to gender clinics in the UK and other developed countries began to increase exponentially around 2014. And that it is mainly girls who want such treatment.
“The bandwagon you were so eager to jump on is heading for a cliff,” Rowling wrote in a post on X, referencing all the celebrities who have praised the treatments in the past. “I’m waiting for Dan and Emma to publicly apologize…knowing you will forgive them,” one of Rowlings’ followers responded. Daniel and Emma responded publicly in the past after the many criticisms that JK Rowling gave about transgender people and indicated that they distanced themselves from the author’s statements.

And so Rowling does not expect any excuses now: “I’m afraid you can’t rest assured about that. Celebrities who join a movement to curtail women’s rights and use their platform to applaud the transition of minors should save their apologies for the traumatized people who want to reverse their transitions, and for the vulnerable women who depend on spaces intended for one gender.”
