The performer of the immortal trucker’s anthem Goodbye love, I’m moving onby the way the full name of Don José Pedro Rodriguez de Montagnes de Laufer, died. His death affected a number of his fans as well as colleagues from the art industry – and among them, for example, the actor Jiří Krampol.“He was a wonderful boy, talented in every way, he sang flawlessly, he was charismatic, he was a good actor and I think he was the best of all singers in terms of movement, because he had it in him, that Spanish blood,” reported about him for tn.nova.cz.
Krampol, who is currently hospitalized due to pneumonia, recalled joint activities… “We played tennis together all our lives, we had various businesses together and then we lived in the same barracks, he lived one floor below, so we were really friends,” lamented the actor, who takes Laufer’s death as a release. Nevertheless, he is completely beside himself with this sad news… “When a person who was close to me left, the first momentt is not like: ‘Jesus Christ!’ It’s just happening…” he admitted dejectedly.

Laufer suffered a fatal heart failure in March 2020 after scheduled valve surgery. There were problems with a hole in the heart, and the artist was put into artificial sleep by the doctor. He remained in this for the next four years… The immediate cause of death now finally became cardiac arrest. „I’m so sorry because it didn’t have to be.” believes Krampol, who even starred in two foreign films with Laufer. “If he hadn’t gone for the surgery, or had been sedated locally, it wouldn’t have happened…”
Unfortunately, he is right about that, as the procedure that Laufer underwent was not urgent. Throughout his life, the actor and singer never had any significant health problems, on the contrary, he was an active athlete – and even if he was troubled by his back or hip, these were problems probably only related to his relatively old age. He died without knowing that he was a widower – his wife, costume designer Irena Greifová (†83), who contributed to the success of the films with her talent Night at Karlštejn or Saintsshe died in December 2022.
