Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis (65) was addicted to alcohol and painkillers for years, but has now been clean for 25 years. She used Instagram to reflect on this for a moment and immediately encourage her followers.
“25 years clean and sober. One day at a time, for 9,125 days now,” she begins her message. “I now feel calm, serene, purposeful and – best of all – no longer alone. So many other people suffered from the same disease, but also found the same solution. For all those who struggle with addiction and shame, there are people who care about you.”

In the past, the actress, who rose to fame in the Halloween horror franchise, has spoken openly about her addictions. After eye surgery, she could no longer do without painkillers, and even stole medication from her friends and family on several occasions. She finally sought help in the late 1990s, determined to “break the vicious cycle that has destroyed so many lives in my family.”
After all, her father, the iconic actor Tony Curtis (Some like it hot), struggled with alcohol addiction for a long time. Her half-brother Nicholas died in 1994 from a heroin overdose.(dewo)
