Sassuolo lost 1-0 against Hellas Verona on Sunday. Sassuolo’s Italian forward Domenico Berardi ruptured the right Achilles tendon in that match.
Berardi will need surgery, his club said on Monday. As a result, this forward may not be seen for the rest of the season, even in the 2024 Euro Cup. Meanwhile, news agency AFP has confirmed that Berardi has run out of euros.
Sassuolo said in a statement on Monday that tests had confirmed that Berardi’s Achilles tendon in his right leg had been completely torn. Tomorrow (Tuesday) he will have surgery on his leg. However, Sassuolo did not say how long the 29-year-old Berardi will be out of action.
Berardi, who scored 8 goals in 28 matches for Italy, played for Sassuolo after nearly two months out injured. Once again he had to be injured.
Berardi made his debut for Italy in a friendly match against France in 2018. He has already won the Euro Cup for the country. Italy became Euro champions with a 3-2 tiebreaker win over England in the Euro 2020 final.
