Bruno Fernandes claimed to have a strong reason to give Marcus Rashford penalty moment Manchester United won 2-0 over Everton at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday (9/3/2024). He explained that the English striker claimed to be confident in taking the penalty.

Bruno Fernandes opened Man United’s lead in the 12th minute, after successfully executing a penalty kick. Then, Rashford doubled the lead for the Red Devils – Manchester United’s nickname – in the 36th minute also from a penalty kick.

Meanwhile, Fernandes said he and Rashford were Man United’s two penalty takers. He explained that Rashford had said he was confident in taking the penalty, so he gave it.

“We both kicked penalties. I asked Marcus if he wanted to take a penalty and he said he was confident,” said Bruno Fernandes, quoted from Goal International, Sunday (10/3/2024).

The Portuguese midfielder also explained that Erik Ten Hag had appointed Rashford as one of the penalty takers. He also considered the 26 year old striker worthy of scoring a penalty in Man United’s win over Everton.

“He is one of the penalty takers chosen by the manager. I feel he is right on target. One, Rashy (Marcus Rashford) can get his goal from a penalty,” he explained.

The victory over Everton meant that Manchester United managed to break the negative trend, after losing the previous two matches. Despite getting good results, the Red Devils remain in sixth place in the Premier League standings with 47 points and three points behind Tottenham Hotspur.
