Alejandro Gutiérrez Gutiérrez, president of the National Chamber of the Processing Industry (Canacintra) in Torreón, pointed out that the candidates have been invited to present their proposals before this body but they have also been given proposals that they consider are necessary to resolve the issues. problems of this city.

“We are proposing the creation of the mental illness care clinic, together with the Municipality, Canacintra and a couple of other organizations that are involved, to address this problem that is the order of the day,” he commented.

He recalled that a survey is being carried out within the companies associated with this organization, since preliminary data show an increase in cases of workers with addictions, which is worrying.

Another proposal is that the construction of a wastewater treatment plant through which the volume that is currently generated in activities such as the irrigation of green areas can be used and the drinking water from the pipes reserved for the colonies that have water problems. shortage.

They also ask for the unification of the rural and urban water systems so that there can be a single operating agency in terms of drinking water, which can provide a better service for citizens.

In this sense, he recalled that most of the city of Torreón is served by the Municipal Water and Sanitation System (Simas), which is a decentralized organization but of the municipal government, while another part is served by the Intermunicipal system. Simas Rural, which depends on the government of the state of Coahuila.

He considered that it is necessary to unify both systems because on the same street there may be a block that serves Simas Torreón and the homes in front correspond to Simas Rural.

He also spoke out for the creation of the Municipal Economic Development Council, where the chambers can contribute to ensuring that investors stay in the lagoon region, assisting the authorities in the work of convincing them with the information they have on issues such as supply.
