A man in India’s dream of owning a car that looks like a helicopter was dashed when the police impounded it shortly after he drove it off the road.
According to news agency ANI, Ishwar Deen, a resident of the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, spent two and a half million Indian rupees and more than two months to make his family car look like a helicopter.
Ishwar Deen welded the rotor blades of the helicopter to the roof of the car and attached the tail boom to the body of the car. He named his vehicle ‘Car Copter’.
Jugaad knows no boundaries
In Ambedkar Nagar, UP, two brothers converted a car into a helicopter using jugaad. They were going to get the dent painted when the police caught them. And the vehicle (helicopter) was seized.

He was on his way to a workshop to get the modified car painted when he was stopped by a traffic police officer who impounded the chopper-like car for violating traffic rules and fined him Rs 2,000. A fine was also imposed.
The police said that investigation into the matter has been started.
Ishwar Deen customized his Suzuki Maruti Wagon R model so that it can be rented out to people for weddings because of its uniqueness.
He told the news agency that he was disappointed that his unique vehicle, for which he worked day and night, had been seized by the police. They were told that it would only be returned if they removed the parts from the helicopter.

Ishwar Deen said that in Pratapgarh district and the neighboring state of Bihar, modified cars like jeeps are running on the roads everywhere without any restrictions. My car copter was made only for use during weddings and not for general use on the road.’
He added: ‘I converted the car to be used for wedding season bookings to get some extra money for our family.’
A video shows locals gathering to see the unique vehicle as it was parked outside the police station after it was impounded.
Police said the car was impounded because it was modified without permission under the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police officer Vishal Pandey said: ‘Yesterday a modified car was seized due to enforcement of model code of conduct. The police were checking vehicles and this modified car was stopped by the traffic police during such checking.’
