INAH advances its publishing program for the Book and Rose Festival

MEXICO CITY (apro).-The XVI Book and Rose Festival is about to begin this April 19, and in that context the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) advanced its programming in publishing news, recent titles and classics.

The book-literary meeting of the highest house of studies will be held from April 19 to 21 in person, within the framework of International Book Day, with more than 500 activities and as every year at its headquarters at the University Cultural Center of the UNAM, which has been joined by the Tlatelolco University Cultural Center (CCUT), the Colegio de San Ildefonso, the Casa Universitaria del Libro (Casul), the Chopo University Museum, the CRIM UNAM of Morelos and the Enes Campus Morelia, Michoacán .

The first editorial presentation of the INAH will be on April 19, at 1:00 p.m., in Forum 6, with “Between centuries. Childhoods”, a work coordinated by INAH researchers, Enrique Montalvo Ortega and Carlos San Juan Victoria, which offers eight stories in which the history of Mexico in the fifties of the last century is presented, through the eyes of eight historians. , archaeologists and academics who lived through this period of transformation in the country.

San Juan Victoria will moderate the table, in which the national coordinator of Anthropology of INAH, Paloma Bonfil Sánchez, will participate; the director of Ediciones Itaca, David Moreno Soto, and the researcher from the Directorate of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the INAH, Maya Lorena Pérez Ruiz.

The next day, April 20, at 11 a.m. in Forum 4, the book “Monserrat Pecanins. Emotional memory”, whose authors are the researchers from the INAH Historical Studies Directorate, Anna Ribera Carbó, and from the Mora Institute, Eulalia Ribera Carbó.

The writers will attend the presentation, accompanied by the poet and UNAM researcher, Pedro Serrano, who will talk about the work, whose origin is the interview conducted with Montserrat Pecanins during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Book and Rose Festival has more than 500 activities scheduled in its 2024 edition, including conferences, presentations, round tables and tributes to figures, such as Truman Capote, Rosario Castellanos, José Agustín and Jorge Ibargüengoitia, and an editorial offer with more of 150 thousand copies of some 500 publishing stamps.

In the presentation of the Festival programming, cultural authorities of the UNAM stated that this edition is aimed at “everyone”, and following that line they highlighted the presentation of the essay by Siobhan Guerrero Mc Manus, with her book “Interdisciplina . Trans Studies”, first transsexual author in the university’s publications; in addition to a program of poets in native languages, and an expansion in proposals for children’s books.
